About Us

Initiated in 2007, Comedy for Kids is an annual fundraising dinner and comedy extravaganza in aid of the children and families in need at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. The night includes a catered BBQ dinner, hilarious comedic acts, live entertainment and a huge range of fantastic raffle prizes and auction items on offer.

The first event was held at Coogee Randwick RSL club with a little under 200 people in attendance. We managed to raise $24,500 from this small event and have never looked back. In 2008, due to increased demand for tickets, we changed venues to the UNSW roundhouse. With close to 400 guests in attendance we managed to raise over $36,000. We remained at the UNSW roundhouse in 2009 and 2010 raising $54,500 and $100,000 consecutively. Due to yet another increase in the demand for tickets in 2011 we are moving to a new venue again at the AJC where we will be able to accommodate over 900 guests!

Past events have included well renowned comedians such as Julia Morris, Jackie Loeb, Chris Franklin, Chris Radburn and Gina Yashere to name a few. The generous donation of their time and hilarious comedic talents have helped make Comedy for Kids what it is today. Their acts have had people falling off their chairs with laughter and we are constantly approached by people who are eagerly anticipating our next event. Past raffle prizes and auction items have included a 4 hour fully catered cruise for 8 on a Mustang 4200 cruiser, a signed Manchester United 2009 Football Jersey which sold at auction for a record $16,000, 2 X 2hr surfing lessons combined with a Lee Stacey surfboard signed by the Bondi Rescue boys and a Signed Cristiano Ronaldo football boot just to name a few.

Since our first event we have seen Comedy for Kids grow exponentially to become one of the biggest fundraising events on the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundations annual event calendar. To date we have helped raise over $215,000 for sick and injured children cared for at Sydney Children’s Hospital and we certainly have no plans to slow down. Our aim is to keep up our significant growth so we can continue to provide ongoing support and raise much needed funds that can help make a difference to the lives of the children and families that rely on the Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick’s services.

The growth of Comedy for Kids is thanks in large part to the support of sponsors, our comedians, loyal supporters, volunteers and our extremely compassionate patrons who have always been ready and willing to dig deep for what is a very worthy cause.
